STCW IMO Medical First Aid

This course provides training in accordance with STCW Regulation VI/4, Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-1 and IMO Model Course 1.14 (Medical First Aid). It is designed for seafarers required to provide medical first aid to injured or ill persons on board a vessel.

Compliance: Training and assessment meet the requirements of STCW 95 (as amended) and are suitable for certification and audit by Maritime New Zealand.

Course Content
Assess and manage injured or acutely ill persons at sea
Provide medical first aid using a ship’s medical outfit
Manage common medical, cardiac, and trauma emergencies
Use automated external defibrillation (AED) equipment
Perform basic suturing and wound management
Manage environmental and exposure-related conditions
Safely handle and evacuate patients
Obtain and act on radio medical advice

Qualification: Medical First Aid Certificate with a five year expiry
